Tell us about the events that led to where you are today:
This isn’t the first time we’ve been Dauntless. In 1995, we bought a “farmette” in Western Loudoun County, VA, at the foothills of the Blue Ridge. After nine months of research and design, Jim completed the drawings for our new prairie-style home. We consider it our first child! We then built our home, acting as our own general contractor. Our first son Henri was born one week after we received our occupancy permit. Both Jim and I are Scorpios, we work well on a deadline! Two years later, our younger son Will was born. Our property was a great place to raise our sons; with lots of space, great neighbors and a fabulously inclusive community. It was also beautiful. What made this dauntless? Well, we didn’t have any family or friends who had bought such a large piece of property and designed and built their own house.
